Roses (Rosas) is the first major resort 30 Km. South from the Spanish - French border. Development started here already in the 1950. During the 1960 houses started to crawl up into the hills. Since there have been no looking back, and tourism and the related service and building business is now the main income in this area.

To the South you have a large sand beach. To the North of the town there are several smaller bays with beaches.

From the start, camping sites were laid out and they are still there, and in increased number.

Roses dates back as a Greek colony, and later Roman. You can still see the ruins of a large fort built during the middle age.
