Escala is situated in the South part of the Bay of Rosas. The town has a rocky sea front, with small beaches in between. North and South from the town you can find large beaches.

Playa Riells with its 650 metres is the one nearest the town from the South. To the North you find Playa Empuries witch is 700 metres long.

The population is around 6000 persons. This will multiply during the busy summer month of July and August. Still Escala is considered as one of the smaller resorts on Costa Brava.

In Escala you can still visit the old town, walk along the sea promenade or enjoy he restaurants and cafe's near the yacht marina.

The best time to visit the area is June. Then you start to feel the summer, but the crowds have not arrived yet. Bear in mind however that the sea is still cold at that time a year, relatively speaking.
