Arenys de Mar is a former important trading port. Today a smaller fishing fleet still operates from here. The beach El Cavaio and the Sea promenade stretch North towards El Canet de Mar. With Barcelona within easy driving distance, Arenys de Mar and Canet de Mar has become more residential area and foreign has little importance here. The distance to Barcelona is 40 Km. Apart from own car, there is train and bus connecting several times a day. The city web site http://www.arenysdemar.org/ is not translated. In Canet there are several camping sites http://www.globo-rojo.com/ is a Cat 1a. Separated from the beach by the road and rail way line.
