Puerto
del Carmen is the oldest resort on Lanzarote. It is now extending 6 Km.
along the coast.
The
airport is close by, distance approximately 10 Km.
You find
a good selection of nightclubs, pubs, supermarkets, restaurants.
The beaches,
starting from the old town centre around the harbour (varalero or muelle
pescero), are called. PILA DE LA BARRILLA, 90 m long. LOS
FARIONES, 60 m long. PLAYA BLANCA (GRANDE), 1200 m long. EL
BARRANQUILLO, 60 m long. LA PEÑA GRANDE, 60 m long. LOS

Puerto del Carmen is in a area where the often strong winds found else
where, have less effect.
There are several diving and wind
surfing schools in Puerto del Carmen. Along the water front you find
hundreds of restaurants and shops, to suit most tastes. Night life and
evening entertainment is plenty full.
If you like a more quiet evening, try
to visit the area around the harbour, to explore the fish restaurants.
The resort has developed away from
the harbour area. Matagorda is one of the more recent developments.
Building regulations has been strictly controlled in the whole area, and
the result is a resort where many like to return for a future visit.
Carnival is a special colourful
period. End of Feb. beginning of Mar.
