Jandia is the peninsula at the southern end of
Fuerteventura. It includes the resorts of Costa Calma and Playas de
Jandia, as well as the port of Morro Jable and several smaller
resorts. The highest point on Fuerteventura, Pico de Zarza, is to be
found there, and once upon a time Jandia was separated from the rest
of Fuerteventura by the sea. The deposits of sand that linked the two
have resulted in some of the best beaches in the world.
The beaches of Jandia and Sotavento in the south
are undoubtedly some of the best on the island.
If you are planning on hiring a car this place is well worth a visit.
Here you can stroll all the way along the coast (20km) passing endless
lagoons and dunes.
With the trade winds blowing the whole year round from the Northwest,
this is a windsurfing paradise, so much so the P.W.A. World
windsurfing speed and slalom event is held here every August bringing
in the cream of the windsurfing world.
