El Cotillo beach is situated in the North West of Fuerteventura. The distance to Fuerteventura airport is 44 kilometres. The beach is called El Aljibe de la Cueva. It is 1200 metres long. The surface is fine sand. Even on a busy day it will not get crowded here. At the north end of the beach you find a small town sitting around the old harbour, mainly used for fishing boats. Public transport connects El Cotillo with Corralejo and Puerto Rosario.
There are not many
hotels in this area. It is the "windward" side of Fuerteventura. The
tourist centres are on the other side of the island. |
