Torreilles beach is a popular beach. There are a large amount of camping sites, and they look very well organised. The season is short. If you arrive in October, only few camping sites are still open. One is the Mar y Sol. On a sunny day you have the beach all for yourself.

If you drive 5 Km North you come to Le Barcares. here you will probably find, on the water front parking, a lot of auto campers. Continue a bit along the water front. Here the Hotel de la Plage is situated. The bar, restaurant seem to be the meeting point.

The parking space doubles as a market place, some times a week. There is a tourist office as well, to ask for information.

Continue some kilometres North and you will find the yacht harbour Le Barcares. Further North you find the beaches "Lido" and "Grande Plage".

Then much to your surprise you will find a old steam ship "parked" on the beach. It is huge and is actually a Casino and restaurant.

After another 2 kilometres you arrive at Port Leucate.

The wind is mostly offshore, and a surfer will have a lot of waiting time for a bit of swell arriving. However by the parking at Torreilles beach and by the Casino vessel, there are some small sand banks where you may find some usable conditions.
