Soorts Hossegor is situated 35 Km. North from
Biarritz in the Frence Atlantic coast. It is the best known surf centre
on the Aquitane coast. It is claimed that the best beach break in the
world is found here.
It is a place where many international surf competitions are held, and
the town is very popular for its after surfing scene.
On the waterfront
square you find everything you need. Surf, sand, restaurants, a hotel,
bars and late bars. It is not mass tourism we see here, but an upmarket
beach front scene.
The town centre
nearby gives the same image, and if you drive around in the general
area, you move between smart villas, small inland tidal lakes and a well
maintained semi forested area.
Along the water front, but in second line, behind the apartments, you
can find parking. Also you can follow the costal road North, and along
you find smaller parking sites located behind he sand dunes.
Camping in Soorts Hossegor is possible on the all year opened Municipal
Bell air. GPS 43,6518, -1,4298 Tel: 0558721204. It is a small
place with some 60 pitches. Very well orientated near the middle of
town. You need to call and check for availability. The entrance is in a
small side street with very limited manoeuvrability. Make sure to arrive
via the D152, and do not allow your GPS to use the main street.
