This section is a quick reference guide to Costa Brava and Costa Maresme on  Spain North East coast towards the Mediterranean sea. There is a short photo gallery. Also sections with description and photo from  some towns along the coast.

Costa Brava is stretching from the border town of Port Bou, until Lloret del Mar. From there until Barcelona, the coast is called Costa Maresme. This area of Spain is called Catalunya. The language in the area is Catalan. English is widely spoken in tourist areas.  The provincial government is in Barcelona.

Costa Brava is one of the first places in Spain that was exposed to "mass tourism". The development is today strictly controlled by the government, and the area is well preserved.

The peak season is in the month of August. The best month to visit is June. From 15 October to 15 May you are out of Season. Many things are closed down. in January February there are cold spells, and from time to time some snow in the hills.
